Recovery

Can I get a flu shot or other vaccines normally once I've recovered from rhinoplasty?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

Once you've fully recovered, vaccines are handled exactly the way they would be for anyone else — your rhinoplasty history doesn't change the recommendations at all.

Right after surgery specifically, it's generally better to hold off on vaccines that aren't urgent for a short stretch, mainly so your immune system isn't managing a vaccine response and surgical healing at the same time. That's a brief, temporary consideration, not a lasting restriction.

Consultation Tip

If a routine vaccine is due around your surgery date, check with your coordinator about rescheduling it a few weeks out rather than skipping it altogether.
