How is a wide bridge corrected?
Surgery that gathers the nasal bones inward so the bridge reads sharp from the front. Because added height alone can make it look narrower, we first decide whether osteotomy is needed.
Who this is for
- A bridge that looks broad and flat from the front
- A bridge so wide the nose looks lower than it is
- A nose with both a hump and a wide bridge

A wide bridge is the classic case that calls for osteotomy.
If the height looks fine from the side but the nose reads broad and low from the front, osteotomy is likely needed.
But raising the bridge makes it look relatively narrower, so some cases finish without osteotomy — and conversely, once the bones are gathered the high bridge finally shows itself, so some finish implant-free.
That makes this the case where a careful CT at consultation matters most.

How the surgery works
STEP 01
If added height alone solves it
bridge augmentation (RIBFIT™ or silicone, discussed in advance)
STEP 02
If osteotomy is needed
gather the nasal bones inward and fix them
STEP 03
Combine hump refinement if a hump is present
Recovery
Recovery varies slightly depending on the scope of surgery and combined techniques. Below is the typical course.
- 1–2 weeks
Bruising around eyes
With osteotomy, bruising around the eyes may remain for 1–2 weeks.
- Day 5–7
Tape, splint & stitches
The fixing tape and splint are removed on day 5–7; stitches come out on day 5 if tip surgery was combined.
- 2 months
Avoid pressing bridge, glasses & frowning
Until the narrowed nasal bones settle, avoid pressing the bridge, wearing glasses, and frowning for 2 months.
