When can I remove the nasal splint/cast?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

The splint is typically removed around day 7 after surgery, during your follow-up visit at the clinic. This timing allows the bone and cartilage structure enough initial stability before removing the external support.

Splint removal itself is quick and not painful, though your nose may look more swollen immediately after removal than you expect — this is completely normal, since the splint was also gently compressing some of the swelling underneath it.

Consultation Tip

Plan to have your splint removal appointment before you fly home, and don't be alarmed if your nose looks more swollen right after — give it a few days to settle before judging the shape.
