Primary Rhinoplasty Techniques

What techniques are used for a natural nose bridge (dorsum)?

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

A natural-looking bridge starts with matching the augmentation material to the patient's own skin thickness and existing bone structure, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all height. Dr. Kim typically favors cartilage-based augmentation — using septal, ear, or rib cartilage depending on how much material is needed — because cartilage integrates with the body's own tissue and tends to age and move more naturally than a rigid synthetic implant.

The bridge line itself is also shaped to flow naturally from the radix (the starting point near the eyes) down to the tip, rather than creating a sharp, obviously "built" straight line — this attention to the overall curve, not just the height, is what tends to separate a natural result from an obviously operated one.

Consultation Tip

Ask to see how your specific bridge line would flow from your radix to your tip during your 3D simulation — the overall curve matters just as much as the final height.
