Recovery & Aftercare

What activities should I avoid during recovery?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

During the first couple of weeks, avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and any activity that raises your heart rate significantly, since increased blood pressure can worsen swelling and bruising. Avoid bending over at the waist (bend at the knees instead), and steer clear of any activity with a risk of impact to the face, such as contact sports.

Also avoid blowing your nose forcefully, wearing anything that presses on your nose (including tight face masks positioned incorrectly), sun exposure without protection, and alcohol or smoking, both of which impair healing and increase bleeding risk.

Consultation Tip

Ask Dr. Kim for a specific, written timeline of when each activity restriction lifts for your case — having this in writing makes it much easier to plan your recovery days and travel schedule accurately.
