Nasal Tip Refinement

Is tip surgery less invasive than full rhinoplasty?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

Generally, yes — tip-only surgery typically involves less operating time, no bone work (since osteotomy isn't needed), and often no rib cartilage harvesting, which together tend to mean a somewhat shorter recovery than a full rhinoplasty involving bridge and structural bone work.

That said, "less invasive" doesn't mean simpler in every sense — as covered elsewhere, tip surgery requires precise technical skill, and in cases involving a genuinely low bridge, staying tip-only isn't necessarily the better path even though it's the less invasive one. The right scope of surgery depends on what your specific anatomy actually needs, not simply on which option involves less time in the operating room.

Consultation Tip

Don't choose tip-only surgery simply because it sounds less invasive — discuss with Dr. Kim whether it's genuinely the right scope for your specific anatomy and goals.
