Timing is one of the most important factors in successful revision rhinoplasty, and it's a question we hear constantly from international patients researching nose revision surgery in Korea. The earliest we recommend even having a revision rhinoplasty consultation is 6 months after your first surgery — this is the minimum time needed for swelling to resolve enough for Dr. Kim to accurately assess what's actually going on beneath the surface, rather than what might simply still be residual swelling.
For the revision surgery itself, most revision rhinoplasty surgeons, including Dr. Kim, recommend waiting a full 12 months, and sometimes longer for more complex nose revision cases. This is because tissue continues to settle into its final position well beyond what's visible in the first few months, and operating too early makes it harder to accurately distinguish a genuine structural problem from tissue that simply hasn't finished healing.
