Can rhinoplasty correct a crooked or asymmetric nose?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

Yes — correcting a crooked or asymmetric nose is one of the more technically demanding aspects of rhinoplasty, since it requires addressing both the visible external curve and the underlying structural cause, which is often a deviated septum pulling the nose off-center.

Dr. Kim addresses this by first straightening the septum — the central structural support of the nose — and then rebuilding the surrounding cartilage and bone framework symmetrically around that corrected centerline. Because the crookedness is usually structural, cosmetic reshaping alone without addressing the septum tends to relapse over time, which is why this deeper correction matters for a lasting result.

Consultation Tip

If your nose is crooked, ask specifically whether your septum is contributing to it — correcting this underlying cause, not just the visible curve, is what gives lasting straightness.
