Could airport security detectors ever pick up on my rhinoplasty?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

No — whether your rhinoplasty used cartilage or a silicone implant, neither material is dense or metallic enough to trigger a metal detector or raise any flag during airport screening. Standard screening equipment simply isn't built to register either material.

There's genuinely nothing about having had a nose job that complicates the airport security process in any way, no matter how often or how far you travel afterward.

Consultation Tip

If you're ever asked about a medical procedure while traveling internationally, having your clinic's contact details on hand is a simple way to put any question to rest quickly.
