Does a past nose job have any effect on my ability to breastfeed?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

No — there's no link between rhinoplasty and breastfeeding, since the surgery only involves the nasal structure and doesn't touch the hormonal or physiological systems that govern lactation. Having had a nose job in the past doesn't change anything about this process.

Patients with prior rhinoplasty can breastfeed exactly the way they would have if they'd never had the surgery at all.

Consultation Tip

If you're planning both pregnancy and rhinoplasty in the coming years, feel free to raise breastfeeding plans with Dr. Kim simply for peace of mind, even though it doesn't change the surgical approach.
