Do I have to give up contact sports for good after rhinoplasty, or just temporarily?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

Only temporarily for the vast majority of patients — once Dr. Kim confirms the structural healing from your nose job is complete, usually a few months out from surgery, contact sports can typically be resumed. There's no reason to assume you've given them up permanently.

The long-term point worth discussing is protective gear — something like a properly fitted mask or guard for sports with a real chance of a direct hit to the face. That's offered as sensible precaution rather than as a strict rule tied to having had surgery.

Consultation Tip

Ask Dr. Kim for a rough return-to-contact-sports date at your follow-up, then build in a few extra weeks of buffer before any high-stakes match or event.
