When can I wear glasses again after rhinoplasty?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

If your surgery involved bone work (osteotomy), it's generally recommended to avoid resting glasses directly on your nasal bridge for about 4-6 weeks, since the frame's weight and pressure could affect the bone as it's still stabilizing. If your surgery was cartilage-only without bone work, this restriction is typically shorter or may not apply at all.

In the meantime, many patients switch to contact lenses if they wear them, or use temporary solutions like glasses tape to rest the frames on the forehead instead of the nasal bridge. Dr. Kim will give you a specific timeline based on your exact surgical plan.

Consultation Tip

If you rely heavily on glasses, mention this during your consultation — Dr. Kim can factor this into your surgical planning discussion and give you practical alternatives for the restricted period.
