Consultation & Candidacy

What medical history should I disclose before rhinoplasty?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

Please disclose any bleeding or clotting disorders, current medications and supplements (especially blood thinners, aspirin, or certain herbal supplements that affect bleeding), allergies (particularly to anesthesia or antibiotics), and any chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or autoimmune disorders.

Also mention any previous nasal trauma or surgery, even minor procedures, along with smoking status — smoking significantly affects healing and blood flow to surgical tissue, so being honest about this helps Dr. Kim plan your recovery timeline accurately and, if needed, advise on stopping beforehand.

Consultation Tip

If you're unsure whether something is relevant — an old injury, a supplement you take occasionally — mention it anyway. It's always better for Dr. Kim to have more information than less.

What follows is general guidance. The actual cause and surgical approach are decided only after an internal examination, a CT scan and a review of your previous surgical history.
