Several specific graft types are commonly used in nasal tip surgery, each serving a different structural purpose. A columellar strut sits between the two nostril bases to provide central support and control tip projection; tip grafts are placed directly over the tip cartilage to sharpen and define the point; and shield grafts add a shield-shaped layer that enhances definition while smoothing the transition to the surrounding skin.

Which combination is used depends on your specific goals and existing cartilage strength — a tip that needs more projection typically calls for a different graft strategy than one that mainly needs sharper definition.
