How is pain managed after surgery?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

Most rhinoplasty patients describe post-surgical discomfort as more of a pressure or congestion sensation than sharp pain, and it's generally well-controlled with standard prescribed pain medication, particularly during the first few days when discomfort is most noticeable.

You'll be given a clear pain management plan and prescribed medication before you leave the clinic after surgery, along with guidance on dosing and timing. Taking medication proactively on schedule, rather than waiting until discomfort builds up, generally makes the first few days noticeably more comfortable.

Consultation Tip

Ask about your specific pain management plan during your consultation, including what to do if standard medication isn't providing enough relief — knowing this in advance removes one source of uncertainty during recovery.
