For nasal incisions, careful placement — inside the nostrils for closed rhinoplasty, or along the natural crease of the columella for open rhinoplasty — keeps scarring essentially invisible in everyday life for the vast majority of patients. For rib cartilage cases, Dr. Kim's harvesting technique keeps the chest incision to roughly 2cm and minimizes the time the wound stays open, both of which support cleaner, less noticeable healing.

Beyond incision placement and technique, following post-operative wound care instructions carefully — keeping the area clean, protecting it from sun exposure, and using any recommended scar care products — also plays a meaningful role in how a scar ultimately heals.
