What should I tell people back home about the bruising after my nose job?

Published

Outcomes and side effects vary from person to person. Bleeding, infection, swelling and asymmetry may occur. Please consult our medical team before making a decision.

A

A simple story about bumping into something or a minor mishap is the most common explanation patients use, and it's rarely questioned — bruising near the eyes after rhinoplasty looks ordinary enough that most people don't suspect surgery unless they're already looking for it. And by the time most patients are back home and seeing people regularly, the visible bruising has usually faded substantially, particularly if they've spent a full one to two weeks recovering in Korea beforehand.

What you choose to tell people is entirely up to you — Dr. Kim doesn't push patients toward disclosure or privacy. Plenty of patients talk openly about their rhinoplasty, while others keep it private, and neither choice is treated as better than the other.

Consultation Tip

Build in the full one to two weeks of recovery time in Korea before flying home if discretion matters to you — the extra healing time does more to reduce visible bruising than any cover story will.
